I finally got around to recovering my chair at the weekend with the Liberty fabric from the V&A’s Quilt exhibition.
And my new gun stapler from eBay, while quite tough to use, gave the finished product quite a professional look – if I do say so myself.
Much folding and stapling required…
I adore the fabric. The peachy roses and blue bows and leaves compliment the wooden frame beautifully. And voila! My much loved and well used £5 chair from Broadway Market has been given a well deserved makeover.
What can I attempt to reupholster properly next? More old furniture required and suggestions are welcome…

Wow I love what you did to your chair! How did you know how much fabric you needed?
I want to make some cushions, think you should do this next to go with the chair!
Thanks Alison! I’m very pleased with it too and have been thinking about making some cushions with the left over piece. I really just guessed how much fabric I would need and bought a half metre piece I think. But it was plenty and I have enough enough left to do some cushions. http://www.vandashop.com/product.php?xProd=5410&xSec=357&navlock=1
So shabby chic!! I love it, I want the chair
excellent re chair, in my experience doing something up feels so creative and exciting, I recently made a very basic curtain (by hand, took me no time though was ages getting round to it..) to hide some clutter in a large cupboard I have that also houses a 50′s retro style fridge freezer, just fills me with joy ever time I see it and knowing I don’t have to look at that clutter!
Really inspiring me to make something now… you make it look so easy!
